Jr Maker

Jr Maker: Robotics, Coding & Engineering

Their idea. Their next big discovery.

For the child with a head full of ideas, Jr Maker offers a next step: let’s work out how to build one. Learners explore coding, robotics and engineering with instructors who help them turn an interest into a project and a big problem into manageable pieces.

Typically ages 8–12 · Membership sessions: 1.5 hours

Turn interests into inventions

Interest gives the learning a reason.

Jr Maker starts with what a learner wants to create. Instructors connect that motivation to lessons, tools and problem-solving strategies. A project provides reasons to understand a mechanism, rethink a design or change a line of code. Learners make decisions, encounter obstacles and get support working through them.

Robotics

Explore the relationship between a design and what it can do. Building and testing help learners connect mechanical choices with a robot’s behavior.

Coding

Give instructions a purpose. Making something respond as intended invites learners to think logically, investigate what went wrong and try a different approach.

Design engineering

Move from an idea toward a workable solution. Instructors help learners consider constraints, make a prototype and refine it through testing.

Build together. Figure it out together.

Why it matters for your child

The pride of understanding how it works.

A finished project is exciting. Being able to explain how it works—and what they changed to get there—is even more valuable. Jr Maker gives children opportunities to practice persistence and independent thinking while knowing there is someone to help them through a difficult step.

Your next steps

  1. Share the things your child loves to build, play or investigate.
  2. Try the studio and discuss a suitable group with an instructor.
  3. Choose an ongoing session and let the next project begin.

A few things parents ask.

How do we choose the right age group?

These membership age groups are a starting point. Trial sessions can use different age bands, and placement also depends on experience and readiness. Tell us your child’s age and interests when booking so we can help you choose.

Do they need robotics or coding experience?

Jr Maker is a guided introduction as well as a place to build on existing interests. Tell us what your child has already tried so we can help choose a suitable starting point.

Will every learner make the same project?

The Jr Maker approach includes projects based on individual interests, supported by instruction. Ask about the current group’s format and how project choices work at your location.

How long is a session?

Jr Maker membership sessions run for 1.5 hours. Confirm the duration and age band of the session you are booking.

Can we try the studio before joining?

Yes. Start with a Free PASS to experience the space and meet the team. Choose from the available Free PASS sessions, then talk with us about membership sessions, pricing and the right next step for your child.
