Guild Hall Studios (http://www.guildhalllearning.com) is an Educational Makerspace that introduces children and teens ages 8-18 to a STEAM education and real world job concepts using readily available, easy to learn, yet powerful tools and components.
The students we serve are motivated to learn, to grow, to better themselves creatively. It’s our responsibility to keep up with them in their pursuits. To continue offering direction in their journey with art and design.
We are hiring additional smart, creative, and passionate artists for our one of a kind program to students in Woburn, MA and throughout the Boston area. This part-time position includes teaching programs during after school hours (4pm-7pm) with weekday mornings and weekends throughout the year, and full day camp programs during the summer.

You'll be in charge of leading teens through challenging projects, managing classroom conflicts, you’ll be constantly learning and collaborating with other instructors. This job is definitely for someone who can maintain control in complex situations.
We provide project-based programs designed to teach principles and methods of engineering, prototyping, iteration, problem solving, and more. Our methodology is designed by engineers, coders, artists, and craftsmen, building on the fundamentals students need to learn to be successful in these fields. Utilizing a full professional woodworking shop, gaming computers with the latest VR (including treadmill and interface devices), 3D printers, electronics, and more we engage our students in solving real-world engineering challenges that explore concepts in craftsmanship ,engineering, coding, and design. Our goal is to have our students foster a greater appreciation of how things work, and encourage the qualities of inquisitiveness, self-reliance, and self-confidence.
Flexible schedule: availability during weekday afternoons and some weekends a must during school year, full weekdays during summer months are available as well.
Experience and passion for teaching teenage students in an energized maker classroom or summer camp setting.
Pre-employment background check is required.
This is a part-time hourly position, 15 – 20 hours/week (30 – 40 hours/week possible during summer). .
Passion for kids and ability to quickly develop good rapport with children while maintaining discipline, and directing the design and building experience. It’s important to have a strong sense of empathy.
An inquisitive, fun-loving personality. We like people who are curious about how things work and are willing to “nerd out” with kids.
A small portfolio or examples of work showing off your creative ability.
Digital and traditional art knowledge preferred.
Knowledge of Photoshop/Krita, and Illustrator/Figma/Inkscape.
Blender Studio or other CAD software knowledge is a plus.
Ability to inspire a creative approach in others.
A good knowledge of form, composition, color theory, and construction.
It will not be necessary to know all the mediums that students work with, rather it will be critical to help them develop the ability to research new mediums, encourage them to be fearless in approaching art, and develop their curiosity.

Salary: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
